Our students have started using Edmodo.com in class. I post the daily objective along with the DO NOW in the morning. Students know to come into class, log on and complete the DO NOW. I can also post any other announcements to the students and they can even respond.
Edmodo is similar to FACEBOOK, except it is for use in the classroom. Anything the students post is directly sent to my email. It is totally private and students need my class code to join.
Ask you student to log into his/her account and check it out!

Another computer fair has come and gone. Many parents came out to see the great projects that were presented. Mrs. Gallagher-Edlund and I appreciate the support of of everyone at EAST and especially thank the parents.
Now...onto REGIONALS in April!
Here is the first place winning video!
The finished Stop Motion Animation movies are starting to be completed. Some will be entered in the 4th Annual MIT Computer Fair. We will be open from 6-8PM for the public.
I have been teaching my film students about angles and how shooting from different positions change the feel/mood of the shot. I do most of my shooting by what I feel, not with any particular technique in mind. However, when I saw this stone, I decided to play with the angles. A cemetery headstone is not something that normally would have any strength or power.

It is that time of year again that my students are learning stop motion animation.
My classroom is a buzz with stories that the students are creating. They are beginning to work together to choose one story to produce. Some students who have appeared to go through the motions of school, are waking up and coming alive with ideas. It is pretty exciting!
The 2010-2011 school year has been in full swing for a week! Students are trying to learn their schedules and get all their forms signed, while teachers try to learn everyone's names and remain organized!
The Lab has a new appearance this year as well! Stay tuned for a few photos!
